Does anyone know anything about collapsing trachea in toy dogs?

He coughs then gags or sneezes and stops. We have been treating him for allergies, the vet said it could be that also,but it doesn’t seem to be working. HELP!!!!!!

my pug that i had as a kid was like that. we had to tip her up from the back feet, kind of like a wheelbarrow. it helped. now my current dog is the same. starts to gasp and gulp for air when he gets excited. i pick him up under the groin and elevate the back side. i also rub his throat and ribs. he lets me do this as long as he needs it and then he runs off as though he’s embarrassed for the help. he likes to be reassurred during these attacks. the vet and breeder say he has a soft trachea. it can be corrected with surgery when necessary. they stiffen it with something artificial like a tube, as far as i can tell. hope this helps.
