How often do you go out to get dog food?
I have been told that a bag should not be opened for more than 6 weeks. My apt is not very well ventilated it was recently built. I am in the middle of getting the air filters to remove moisture. I heard the dogs can get sick from mold in their food so and has happened on one occasion so I’m trying to see if anyone else has the same problem.
How often do you go to the petstore for food treats ect
How much to you feed daily
What breed/s
What size bag and what price
What brand
I have 9. Dogs which include fosters I have a budget of 350 on pet food per month.
I buy about 400 to 500 lbs. every time petsmart has their “friends and family 15% discount” days. About every six months. Now I have to buy more in between too, but that keeps me going for awhile. While I use about 35 lbs of dry food a week, still I store the food in a large metal garbage can with a lid to keep it clean and fresh. When I hit the bottom, I knock out all the crumbs and start over.
The big thing is never pour a bag of food on top of older food. Use to the bottom. Never let moisture get in your food — if it does, throw the food away.
I feed all ProPlan dog food — I used to do the fancy stuff, but it didn’t give me coats as good as I get off proplan. It’s about $40 a 35 lb bag. I also use canned food — a spoonful on top of each bowl. And raw bones for teeth.
Dogs CAN get sick and even die from mold, but if you keep your food clean and dry in a large garbage can, no worries.
I feed each dog twice a day, between 1 and 2 cups, depending on size and activity level. I know exactly how much each dog eats.
