Is treadmill exercise (for my dog) more intense then a regular walk?
I got a treadmill this weekend! I was planning on using it with my dog as well. His first time lasted 3 minutes with treats and he did great, last night he did 5 minutes and this morning he was actually getting on it on his own and he did a 10 minute…:)
I do not want to over do it cause I think that a 30 minute walk outside is less demanding then a 30 minute on a treadmill. I came to the conclusion that 15 minutes at a constant speed of 1.3 should equal a 30 minute walk with stops and irregular speed. What’s your input?
Also, he’s constantly fixing down, I can’t get him to look up at me, will he start looking up when he gains some confidence on the machine?
(the treadmill does not replace my daily walks with him)
He’s an American Cocker 20 months, 30lbs.

Just make sure that what your doing is something he likes/doesn’t mind to do. Also, watch how many treats you give him because exercising and eating leads to cramps. Other than that you are doing great and make sure he walks outside as well.
